Stok Kangri is a delightful trekking peak that lies in the Ladakh area in the northern part of india. The capital city Leh is the starting point of your trek towards the fascinating Markha valley. The long trek is designed to help your body to ajust to altitude and maximize your acclimatization before the summit bid. You trek in unspoiled Indian himalayan region through arid landscape and remote valleys. From Base Camp you wake up in early morning to start your climb for an awe-inspiring sunrise at the summit. From the top you enjoy the magnificient view over Indus Valley, Karakoram Range and Pakistan mountains.
Combining the Marka Valley Trek with the Stok Kangri ascent allow to gain altitude steadily and to acclimatise to the low oxygen conditions before reaching the summit . Although very safe and technically straightforward, the climb on Stok Kangri remains challenging with crossing high passes, boulder terrains and steep snow slopes. The climb of Stok Kangri provides stunning views over the Ladakh region, the Karakoram valleys and the the Himalayan range across Tibet.
Day 01: Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Meet and assistance upon arrival and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Delhi - Leh flight
Early morning transfer to the domestic airport to catch the flight to Leh. This surely is one of the most sensational scheduled flights in the world, taking you right over the top of the Greater Himalaya before dropping down in a series of steep turns, to land at the small airport at Leh. Flight time approx. 1½ hours. You will be met on arrival and driven through Leh to check into the Hotel. Leh is at an altitude of 11,500ft/3,500m and therefore we recommend that the rest of the day be spent resting to help adjust to the altitude.

Day 03: Leh sightseeing
Sightseeing of Hemis, Shey & Thiksey Monasteries.

Day 04: Leh to Zingchen drive and trek to Rumbak
Morning after breakfast drive to Zingchen via Spituk. Start trek to Rumbak, we enter Hemis National Park, home to the famous Snow Leopard, Blue Sheep, Ladakhi Urial (a type of goat), great Tibetan sheep (Arghali), red fox, Tibetan wolf, wild dog (dhole), Lynx, marmot and mountain hare. We start to climb gradually up to village of Rumbak, through a beautiful gorge from which the Stok peaks come into view from time to time. Rumbak is known as a place to see and research on the magnificent Himalayan snow leopard.

Day 05: Rumbak to Foot of S K via Stok la 4900 m
The trail up to the base of Stok la (4900 m) starts fairly gradual but becomes steeper as we approach the pass. Views of the Indus valley and remarkable colorful rock formations of Stok la will diminish the hardship of the our climb. We descend along the mountainside up and down until we reach some stone houses, use by the Stok villagers for summer pasture.

Day 06: Foot of SK to S K Base Camp
We climb gradually, then the path becomes steeper as it zigzags up to the base camp. Today we will first establish our base camp.

Day 07 & Day 8: Stok Kangri summit
After a very early start in the dark, we cross a glacier to the foot of the climb. Although not technical, the route to the summit may involve the use of the ice axe and crampons. The summit route is fairly steep and along an exposed ridge for some of the time, with some scrambling on loose rock. The final hundred meters need special care, while crossing the ice slope just below the summit. From the summit the views are amazing. We spend a short while on the summit before descending to the base camp.

Day 09: Stok Kangri Base Camp - Leh
A five hour walk to Stok. That goes downhill and through wild gorge scenery brings us to Stok village. We visit Stok Palace and museum and later take jeeps for an hour's drive across the Indus valley to our hotel in Leh.

Day 10: Leh - Delhi flight
Transfer to the airport to catch the flight for Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, we assist you to check in at hotel in Delhi.

Day 11: Delhi departure
Transfer to the International airport to catch the flight to UK
